RAJU WEDS RAMBAI REVIEW : A Shocking Climax That Haunts You Long After the Credits Roll

Raju Weds Rambai Movie 2025 Review : ETV Win, the banner that gave us sleeper hits like 90’s and Little Hearts, returns with another low-budget, content-driven film rooted in the soil of Telangana. Directed by debutant Saailu Kampati and backed by Venu Udugula (of Virata Parvam fame) as showrunner, Raju Weds Rambai promises a real-life love story with a gut-wrenching twist. Did it deliver? Mostly in the last 15 minutes.

Raju Weds Rambai Movie Review

Story: Love in a Telangana Village, 2010

Set in a dusty Telangana village circa 2010, Raju (Akhil Uddemari) is a cheerful band-baaja player who falls head-over-heels for Rambai (Tejaswini Rao). She reciprocates, but her domineering father Venkanna (Chaitu Jonnalagadda) – a man hiding his physical disability behind arrogance – wants a “government-job” son-in-law only. When the secret romance leaks, the young couple decides to elope. What follows is a series of hurdles that finally explodes into a climax so brutal and unexpected that the entire theatre fell dead silent on the day I watched it.

The film is inspired by a real incident that shook a village in 2010. The makers openly admit: “We wrote the climax first, then built the whole story backwards.” And boy, does it show.
  • The Biggest Strength: A Climax That Will Disturb You
Let’s get this out of the way – the last act of Raju Weds Rambai is easily one of the most shocking endings in recent Telugu cinema. It’s raw, unforgiving, and stays true to the real events, and will leave you numb. You’ll walk out of the hall questioning how something like this could actually happen in real life. If the team’s only goal was to make the audience never forget this film, mission accomplished.
  • The Biggest Weakness: Everything Before the Climax
Unfortunately, a great ending alone doesn’t make a great film. The love track between Raju and Rambai feels strangely emotionless. We never truly understand why these two are so madly in love. Scenes that are meant to be cute (Raju wearing Rambai’s slippers, village flirting) land softly but never hit the heart. Worse, Raju repeatedly slaps Rambai during arguments – a choice that feels regressive and instantly kills audience sympathy.
Venkanna’s character had the potential to be a terrifying villain, but poor writing reduces him to a cartoonish loudmouth. Even the sudden death of Raju’s father (Sivaji Raja) feels forced, just to inject some drama.
The first half has a few lively episodes that will make today’s youth smile, but the second half drags until the final storm arrives.

Performances: Fresh Faces Shine Despite Flaws

  • Akhil Uddemari is earnest and speaks flawless Telangana slang. He looks every bit the village band player.
  • Tejaswini Rao is the find of the film – innocent, expressive and completely believable.
  • Chaitu Jonnalagadda nails the body language of Venkanna, but the script doesn’t give him enough ammunition.
  • Supporting cast, especially Raju’s gang of friends and Sivaji Raja in a brief role, are perfectly cast.
Technical Brilliance on a Tight BudgetSuresh Bobbili’s background score elevates many scenes and becomes the soul of the climax. Cinematography beautifully captures the rustic Telangana vibe without making it look glossy. For a small film, the technical values punch way above their weight.Final VerdictRaju Weds Rambai is a film made purely for its devastating climax. If you’re someone who values a shocking, thought-provoking ending over a perfectly crafted romance, this one is for you. But if you need emotional investment throughout the journey, you might leave you cold.
Worth a watch for that unforgettable final 15 minutes and for two promising new faces. Just don’t expect a feel-good village love story.
